Absent Reflection Thesis
An Installation On Our Dull Sensations
Strategy
When we think of the sensations of mundane, anarchy, and genius many of us often don’t associate ourselves with these words. These three sensations create an inner desire for us to numb them, even moreso than other unpleasant sensations such as anger, disgust, or fear. By depriving ourselves of these emotions we risk limiting the potential opportunities we could learn from these sensations.
This installation asks the viewer to walk through the space and think how they might take positivity from these sensations. While walking through the space they can read, find, and reflect on these words. It uses a combination of word, scale and material to start a conversation in the physical space, about the potentiality these sensations can provide for us as individuals.
